the rules.
the rules are very basic: be kind to each other, don't godmode, respect each other's boundaries, and have fun! if you're having trouble with a fellow player, please attempt to discuss it with them first before asking for mediation.
the premise and backstory.
once upon a time, a long long time ago, the oceans rose and swallowed the earth. in a last-minute effort to rescue their residents, the witches of burrow island cast a spell over their land, allowing the island to float above the new water levels. for a few generations, the island residents managed to live in peace, but soon they noticed the island slowly sinking down into the water. afraid of what might happen, the residents consulted the witches once more.
the problem was discovered, as well as the solution: because the island's inherent magic was weakening, the residents must provide it with a new source. and so The Living Spell was born, tying into every resident's positive energies to fuel the island to float.
basically, intimacy keeps the island, ostensibly its people, alive.
the physical setting.
think a mix of outlander and game of thrones settings, with the heavy and layered clothes. there's a few anachronisms, however, like rotary phones and electricity, but those things are mostly powered by magic. the island itself is chock-full of magic, if old and mainly sustained by its residents. the houses are mostly made of wood and stone.
oh, and there are monsters on the island. the waters below, accessible through stone steps and rope ladders, have mermaids. there are magical animals; yes, there are unicorns. burrow island is about as large as new york state.
who you can bring.
fandom and original characters are both equally welcome! fandom aus are allowed if canon, and if not they will be taken on a case-by-case basis. craus are also allowed.
powers and humanization.
powers are dampened to a manageable level, and humanization is optional (preferred only for characters of a large size, like transformers).
applications.
there are no applications for burroughs, only an invitation from players already in the musebox.
